Crawl Space Waterproofing for Elko homeowners
The water table in south Houston County sits close to the surface, and under Elko that means a crawl space can be within a couple of feet of standing groundwater. When the level comes up after a wet stretch, the water arrives through the crawl space floor without any runoff involved.
The older homes here were built with open vented crawl spaces and nothing underneath them. No barrier, no drainage, no pump. That was ordinary practice, and it works acceptably until the water table reaches the floor, at which point there is nothing to stop it or move it.
We install what was never there. A perimeter drain set below the crawl space floor intercepts the rising water, a sump lifts it out, and with rural acreage the discharge can run far enough that it does not return. A sealed vapor barrier goes over the top so the ground stops giving off moisture between events.
